News and Announcements
Thank you to everyone who helped us run a great race event last weekend! Your effort is appreciated by 150 smiling faces! Now that the 2018 Cookie Cup is in the books, it is time to look ahead to the fast approaching Nancy Greene GS race on Sunday February 11. This is a race for *all of our Mini, U6, U8, U10 and U12 athletes*.
You will receive specific race information in the days before the race, but here is what you need to know regarding volunteering and race day groups.
We have 83 race positions to fill and are counting on a volunteer from each of our families. Please have a look at the race day coaching groups, and the volunteer link.
We need you to:
1) Register your child for the race. . Athletes who are not registered by that date will not be assigned a bib number for race day and their names will come off of the race day groups lists.
To register, use the same link as the volunteer link.
you can enter all of your children names in the comment box
2) Find a race volunteer position so we can fill all of the jobs needed to run a race of this size and nature.
Do be aware that we are attempting to ensure that U8 and under will be racing and in morning followed by free skiing in the afternoon while U10 and U12 are the opposite. They will be free skiing in the morning, and racing in the afternoon.
To see what the race groups are, please check the following link. Given that the group list may update prior to race day, please check this same link the night before the race.
If you have any volunteering questions please email Rhonda at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you see any errors in our race day groups (omissions or incorrect age), please email coach Sarah at email@example.com
For any race questions, please email coach Ryan at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for helping us run a great first GS race event for all of our skiers!
Looking forward to working with you all,
GKHAT Volunteer Coordinator
Good day GKHAT Families,
This coming weekend is the GKHAT Cookie Cup. Please take the time to read this email in its entirety. In it we cover:
- Race information
- Expectations of parents
- Post-race gathering
As with all events, GKHAT race events depend heavily on volunteers to be successful. The Cookie Cup is no exception. We have filled in most of the spots, however, we need two more individuals:
- We are looking for two volunteers to help operate the gun at the speed trap.
- We still need one more tail-gunner for the U6/U8 group. Check signup genius for this one. Just follow THIS LINK.
The Cookie Cup this weekend will be comprised of three events: Team Ski Cross, Obstacle course team relay, and Speed Trap. All events will be set Below Catamount chair on Wolverine, lower Big Ben, and Crowfoot. Athletes will participate in teams of four (some 3 if necessary) and will get a team score for each event which will be added together for a total team score. Teams will circulate stairway chair with their coaches and aim to get at least two-three runs through each event. We are super excited for this fun focused event and hope you and your racers are too!
All athletes should arrive a bit early to allow us some time. Please be sure to arrive promptly at 8:40 AM. Athletes will be meeting with an assigned coach at this time (see attached group list or follow this link).
Reminder! IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ATTEND FILL OUT THE FORM ON SIGN-UP GENIUS at THIS LINK
Expectations of Parents
During the cookie cup day coaches will stay with their groups for the entire day and circulate the Catamount chair with their teams. Athletes will be divided into coaching groups (see attached group lists) and the smaller teams of four will be separated within the coaching groups. Those who have signed up to be tail gunners will be assigned to groups. If you are not already signed up to volunteer for the event, please just talk to your coach in the morning to make sure the group has enough support.
Lunch break will occur at ad hoc times as possible. We will plan with the coaches to rotate a couple of groups in at a time at the yurt. Generally, the U8 groups will start to come in around 11:15 and the older groups later.
At the end of the day’s events, all athletes and parents are invited to the Winston. There, the Cookie Medals will be given out, and for the enjoyment of adults, happy hour will begin at 3:30 (or as soon as we’re off the hill). This is also a great opportunity to meet the other parents, children and coaches, and have a good time.
The Winston Lodge is located on the ski hill at: 1593 Cache Close
Thanks For Volunteering!
Thanks to all who have volunteered for set up and tail-gunning!

Hello GKHAT families,
We are looking forward to the upcoming Cookie Cup and have been busy planning this first club event of the year. We now need some information from all of you!
The Cookie Cup will take place for all athletes (including mini GKHAT) on Saturday January 20 and will consist of three team events: a speed trap, an obstacle course and a mini ski cross. All events will be running on Catamount starting near the top of Wolverine, under the chair. There will be more specifics & details about the events and race day groups in the week leading up to the 20th.
We are testing out new software for the race and volunteer sign ups, a program which you may already be using for other activities. You will find the link here for the Cookie Cup on Sign Up Genius.
Whether you will be attending or not, please be sure to register.
To finalize the organization of the day we need you to please do the following by Monday January 15:
1. Indicate whether or not your athlete will be participating in the event
- You will enter athlete name(s) after hitting “submit”.
- You can enter multiple athlete names in the same blank.
2. Indicate where you can volunteer and help us run a fabulous and fun event for our athletes.
Your child will not be placed on a team or with a coach unless you register them to participate on this link.
Please remember that GKHAT is a race club and our club events run solely on the efforts of our families as volunteers. We cannot run any events for our athletes without the help of our parents. The volunteer requirement for this event is quite low, but in our upcoming events this season, we will need the help of ALL of our families, so please take note of those dates (Feb 11, March 3/4 and March 17). Thank you for doing your part to make this a great club experience for your child and all of our athletes.
PLEASE NOTE: Because this event has ALL of our athletes participating on the same day, race day groups will look different than regular training day groups. Please prepare your athlete for this change. Race day groups will be shared once all information is collected from this form.

Also, please be sure to review the yurt cleaning schedule to ensure that parents are not alone in helping to keep the yurt clean for all the kids. Yurt cleaning occurs at the end of the day. It doesn’t take too long to do. The yurt cleaning schedule is here
