Auction deferred to Saturday November 24
As you are aware, GKHAT is preparing for our annual online fundraising auction. The auction is our primary fundraising opportunity for the club. After this, there are no bottle drives, no tickets to sell, no baked goods to sell…. this is it. A few board members will likely apply for some outside funding (which is always tenuous) but as a club effort, as I said, this is it.
The reason we need to raise funds is simple…. it supports our club. GKHAT is the largest winter sports program for youth in the Golden area and we are the fifth largest alpine ski club in British Columbia. Our registration fees cover our operational costs (coach wages, WCB, liability insurance, BC Alpine fees WCB, accounting and legal fees, etc.). The money we raise goes to keeping our kids warm in the yurt, keeping our kids safe on the hill, supporting low income families and our special needs program, and supporting professional development for coaches. At the end of each year, the board directs the funds we raise towards these components of our program.
Unfortunately, we aren’t ready to launch the auction and we are deferring the start of the auction to Saturday November 24. To the families and businesses that have donated auction or money items, I personally want to thank you – your contribution is greatly appreciated.
To ensure we reach a target of at least $15,000 we need more items for the auction. Personally, I along with our fund-raising director Sarah Short, have been actively canvassing local business for more items…. our favourite restaurants, our favourite clothing stores, where we buy our tires, where we buy a coffee, our employers, you name it – we are asking for a donation for the auction. Please join us for over the next week to get the number of auction items up so we do not need to undertake another fund-raising event this year. We will be extending our intake of auction items to November 23rd.
Before you drop items off, please be sure to complete this donation item form.-
